Well, to start off this post I must say that I truly commend each and every one of you who spends their entire day teaching and still finds time to update their blog on a daily basis. Teaching is an endless job!!
Needless to say, I have been very busy over the past week. I think I just need some more time to get used to the new schedule...and then maybe I'll find some time to breathe and actually think.
Other than being extremely busy, I am really enjoying my student teaching experience thus far. My cooperating teacher is awesome. Not only is she an amazing teacher to her students, but has also given me so many great ideas and "insider tips" that I KNOW I will be able to utilize in the future. She is really trying her best to make sure that I gain realistic and useful knowledge for my future career, and I really appreciate that. She also treats me as if I am on the same level as her, not as if I am some clueless newbie (which I am, and I think she treats me as more than that on purpose) and that makes me feel much more confident in the classroom. And not to mention, we just get along really well overall. So I feel very lucky to be working with her.
My supervisor from the college, however, seems much more rigid. I suppose that the two of them will balance each other out. I just want to learn as much as I can and do as much as I can to help those kids learn.
My colloquium class is also going to be immensely helpful for me. They are requiring us to turn in our resume for a critique, they are going to help us post applications on the state department of education website, walk us through applying for our licensures, and all kinds of other things to help us find JOBS...which is really the ultimate goal...so I am glad to have some help with that!
So all in all, week one was great. I am looking forward to 4-day week two.
I have a hard time believing that people actually get paid to do something so amazing...a career that they truly love! (even though in reality they SHOULD be paid much more...) Who would have thought you could get paid to do something you love so much?
